My game is a struggle right now. This past weekend, I played multiple rounds of golf in a single weekend for the first time in months. In 2018, two rounds in a weekend was a standard, these days its a luxury.
You know what else has become a standard?
PISS POOR golf by me.
Latest Scores
My game is a complete struggle right now. I cant seem to put it all together to play a decent round. For illustrative purposes, here are the scores from the last five rounds I have played:
Course | Score | Handicap Differential |
Hidden Falls Golf Course | 78 | 5.3 |
Lake Shastina GR Championship | 83 | 9.2 |
Falconhead Golf Club | 85 | 7.6 |
Flintrock Falls Country Club | 79 | 5.7 |
Lighthouse Country Club | 81 | 6.9 |
As a former scratch golfer, my handicap is sky rocketing.
Some Success, A lot of Struggle
On the positive side, my short game and putting is in relatively good shape. Putting and short game are two areas that I always feel like can be improved, but at the moment, I don’t think my short game and putting is the root cause of my high scores.
On the flip side, my long game is pretty poor right now. I am fighting a big hook off the tee, that is making it difficult for me to keep the ball in play. My iron game is also a struggle. I can’t seem to find the center of the clubface, and that in turn, is affecting my ability to control distance and direction.
In golf, performance definitely ebbs and flows. Right now, I am in a slump, and it is maddening. However, my best golf has typically come after a long drought. Droughts have a way of pushing you to address issues in your game and get them corrected.
I need to take a look at my swing and figure out what is causing poor contact, and massive hooks. Maybe, it’s time for a lesson. Maybe it’s not.
Who the hell knows…
Until next time,
Enjoy the chase!
